The popular resale platform has altered its size classifications for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all users about the change. Online Platforms Response Countless users and merchants have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category versus the original listing due to the recalibration. Vinted explained the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces. It has advised users to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, which has left users frustrated. Sizing System Modifications Previously, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10. The new system has a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10. For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18. Member Stories A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult". "Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates. A different member, from Glasgow, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22. "If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she explained. Manual Updates Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products". "Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she said. Platform Context The service features exceeding 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK. It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop. This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
