The Renowned Musician Calls On Backing to Propel Together for Palestine Track to UK Festive Top Spot.

A campaign is aiming to send a traditional song from Palestine to the peak of the festive singles chart. The project hopes to send support to communities in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.

A Possibility for Support and an "Surprise Victory"

Musician and artist Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a chance to support Palestinians over the Christmas period. He acknowledged the potential for an unexpected chart success.

“It would be fantastic if that came to pass, yes,” he stated. “I won't be completely let down if it doesn’t, festive releases are a thing unto themselves.”

Defiant Message of Freedom and Dignity

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the reimagining of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's resilient spirit.

“The song holds a very special place for countless listeners,” Barghouti shared. “The message is that I would rather die in dignity than spend my life without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we desire to exist a life of dignity that we deserve as Palestinians.”

Production History and Featured Artists

The single was laid down following a solidarity show held in the autumn. First conceived to be done as a live recording, the rendition was cut from the show due to time constraints.

The diverse array of performers contributing to Lullaby includes a range of acclaimed names from the scene. All were part of the benefit event, which successfully generated a substantial amount for charitable causes.

Production and Release

Lullaby was produced by a team of talented individuals. The song showcases a mix of the traditional Arabic lyrics with contemporary English verses.

The team running the project have stated that their goal is to generate maximum funds for a charitable pot. These resources will be channeled to projects in Palestine through an established charity.

“There is no a specific target,” a spokesperson commented. “We’ll go for the maximum achievable. Naturally, the greater the amount, the better. All proceeds are directed out to the people of Gaza.”

The situation in the area was described as its widespread damage, with a vast majority of buildings reportedly destroyed or damaged.

“Given that reality, a couple of million won't make an enormous impact. But I think what does make a difference is first of all spreading knowledge of this plight and showing that another narrative exists.”

The track is set to be released this Friday. Additionally, a video of the charity concert will be made accessible to view on a popular streaming site from mid-December.
