Tehran is ready to resume nuclear discussions with the United States on condition that it is treated with "respect" and "honor", Iran's top diplomat has declared.

The Iranian diplomat said solely negotiations worked, and shared fresh requests had been made by mediators to resume discussions with the US government. He claimed Iran did not have unreported enrichment locations, and Iran could not yet authorize the global atomic watchdog to visit bombed nuclear sites for security reasons.

Navigating a Difficult Course

Araghchi is walking a difficult route since Iran does not want be seen to be operating from a situation of weakness, and he emphatically stated that Iran had emerged more powerful militarily and mentally from the Israeli-US attack on its nuclear sites in June.

He was addressing at a strategic meeting in Tehran where he reaffirmed that Iran had "an inalienable right to refine atomic fuel on home soil that it will never give up" – the primary cause of the impasse in the prior discussions.

Earlier Talks Abruptly Concluded

The prior phases of negotiations between the US and Iran were brought to an abrupt and hostile termination on 12 June when the Israeli government, with US support, targeted Tehran's atomic facilities in a two-week conflict that concluded with the American leader declaring the locations had been destroyed. Subsequently, EU nations exercised their authority to reinstate global restrictions, but Iran maintains they have not had a substantial consequence.

Magic Solution Proposed

Iran's diplomats claimed they felt they had achieved a "ideal resolution" to the enrichment issue in prior discussions, when it was settled an local partnership with American involvement could process nuclear material. Each party would have been able to declare success since domestic enrichment would have remained and the US could be assured that Iran's atomic project was solely for peaceful purposes.

It had not been agreed in the negotiations that US nuclear scientists could operate inside Iran, but that was a reasonable assumption of the partnership suggestion. Araghchi said: "It was not Iran that had abandoned dialogue; it was the United States and the western countries that had repeatedly sought to impose their desires during the negotiations. In what is characterized by Tehran representatives as the struggle of restoration and recovery, Araghchi stated he was certain Iran's defence capabilities "have significantly improved than preceding 13 or 14 June of this year. All our capabilities have been rebuilt. We learned multiple understandings from this war; we have come to know our own weaknesses and the shortcomings of the opponent."

He stated: "We successfully passed this conflict. Our enrichment knowledge, which they aimed to destroy, continues to exist. The installations and gear, if eliminated, will be restored; what is crucial is the will of the nation of Iran and then the unity of the country that they aimed at, but failed to shatter. The citizens of Tehran have developed more resilient, more integrated, and more supportive of the government and the country in the aftermath of this attack."
