The Grave Charges The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous sexual offences – including acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021. One senior CPS official commented, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.” The Investigation These allegations follow what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital. Spencer will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January. Breakdown of Offences Prosecutors said the forty-five sexual offences comprise: Fifteen counts of assault. 17 counts of assault by penetration. Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen. 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration. One count of attempting to assault by penetration. Police are urging individuals with information to contact the investigating team.
