Cowboys player Marshawn Kneeland has died aged 24.

The Cowboys selected the Cowboys in the second round in 2024 and played 18 times for the team, with four starting appearances.

He recorded his initial touchdown in the Tuesday game to the Arizona Cardinals when he retrieved a blocked punt.

"Marshawn was a beloved teammate and member of our organisation," the Dallas Cowboys stated.

"We send our condolences regarding Marshawn are with his partner Catalina and his loved ones."

Kneeland was picked by the Cowboys with the 56th selection of the 2024 NFL Draft after playing college football for Western Michigan University.

His agent, Jonathan Perzley, said his "heart breaks" for the loss of the athlete who "gave his all" into each opportunity.

"I watched him fight his way from a aspiring young man at Western Michigan with a goal to being a esteemed pro for the Dallas Cowboys," Perzley commented.

The NFL stated it is "deeply saddened" by the news.
