Adult Swim's Top New Show of 2025 Earns a Substantial Renewal for Seasons 2 and 3.

Last October, the late-night programming block debuted a new season of its offbeat hit, Smiling Friends. But, later that same month, the network introduced a brand-new animated series with a strikingly different feel. Haha, You Clowns proved to be sweet and soothing, in the spirit of a animated take of a serene talk show. In an era often marked by bleakness, this show's wholesomeness struck a chord and helped it become a surprise hit.

A Two-Season Greenlight

In mid-December, the network confirmed a big renewal: Haha, You Clowns has been picked up for two more seasons. This provides creator Joe Cappa significant creative freedom to develop the world of the Campbell family. The show follows three polite teenage brothers whose primary trait is their deep love for their widowed father, with Cappa voicing for all four central characters.

"I’m so grateful to the fans of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and shared it with others," stated Cappa. "I am overjoyed that I get to spend more time in the Campbell household for a little longer."

Network Praise

The official statement also included laudits from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who called the series as "profoundly sincere and strangely uncanny." He thanked the fans who embraced the show and championed its uniquely offbeat appeal.

"All of you supported this new show, championed for it on social media, and grew it week over week so we could approve not one, but two more seasons," said Ouweleen. "In the words: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Different Kind of Comedy

Upon its debut, Haha, You Clowns was described as "a comforting antidote" to other adult animated fare. There’s something surprisingly comfy about observing this lovable family go about their everyday routines.

At the time, creator Joe Cappa stated his goal to evolve comedy past its long-running layer of irony. He traced this trend to a broader media landscape.

“We're stuck in a cycle of irony that we keep returning to,” explained Cappa. “It feels as if we have to know we’re the smartest person in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for a decade, and we must laugh at something different now. Comedy has to evolve.”

What Comes Next

Given this two-season order, with Haha, You Clowns guaranteed to return, Cappa could potentially catalyze that very evolution. At a minimum, the renewal guarantees audiences more opportunities to experience the warm glow of the endearing Campbell clan.

The first season's conclusion of Haha, You Clowns is scheduled to air on December 21st. The complete first season is ready to watch on HBO Max.
